Beautycounter Favorites!

Hello loves and happy Halloween! I am so thrilled to be coming to y’all today to talk to you about products from a company that I absolutely adore… Beautycounter! For those of you who have never heard of their amazing work, Beautycounter’s mission is “to get safer products into the hands of everyone.” On their website, they give so many horrifying statistics about the products that go into most of the beauty products on the market in the United States. What struck me the most was that they said,

“The United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938.”

I’m no chemist, but there has got to be some chemicals that we’ve found in the past (almost) 100 years that we can now say are unhealthy. I know that the out of the 80,000 different chemicals used in retail beauty products today, there are some that I definitely should not be putting on my face! Your skin is your biggest organ, and it absorbs what is on your face. Why not feed your skin something better? That’s where Beautycounter comes in. They developed their signature “Never List” which is a list comprised of all of the ingredients they promise not to use in their products and why. Read about it here.

Of course, there are some products that I absolutely adore whose company’s do not have the same amazing mission as Beautycounter and that I will probably not part with. However, I have found that Beautycounter’s products are incredible, and some have actually have traded places with some of my all-time favorite products. I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable about beauty products, so the fact that some of these products have made their way into my everyday beauty routine says A LOT.

My mom’s friend sells Beautycounter, and she sent me a bunch of their products to try. This obviously isn’t everything they have, and there are so many things on their website that I am planning on trying! Go check it out (once you’re done reading this post)! 😉

First, let’s start off with the non-makeup beauty products…

Cleansing Balm: When I first tried this product, I honestly didn’t like it. My face felt so greasy afterward, and there was still makeup on my face afterward. Although I still don’t think this product does the best job removing makeup, I absolutely LOVE it as a cleanser. When I tried it for the first time, I didn’t use the cloth it comes with to wipe everything away after I applied the balm, and let me tell you, it makes all the difference! I normally will use this to cleanse my skin at the end of the days when I’m not wearing any makeup. It does a great job at cleansing my skin without stripping it of its natural (and healthy) oils! USE: Apply balm directly to dry face in circular motions. Then, wipe it all off with the warm, damp cloth.

Rejuvenating Night Cream: First off, I love the way this moisturizer smells. Second, it is extremely luxurious feeling — so soft and rich while still feeling light on the skin. I think it is extremely important to have a different moisturizer for nighttime than for your everyday moisturizer. At night, it is better to use a thicker cream with no SPF. Although SPF is great for the daytime, it can clog your pores, so give your skin a break at night! Overall, I like this product. It’s definitely not a standout for me out of all of the products I tried. My face definitely feels moisturized when I wake up, but I haven’t seen any drastic changes in my skin since I began using it.

Smooth & Control Shampoo and Conditioner: I am absolutely and utterly obsessed with these gray bottles of magic! Seriously, this shampoo and conditioner combo is one of the best that I’ve ever tried. I’m so sad because I’ve already run out of both bottles! Every time I washed my hair, it felt so soft and healthy afterward without my hair feeling weighed down. It also brought out the natural, wavy texture of my hair. If you are thinking of ordering anything from Beautycounter, you HAVE to try these. You will not regret it!

Citrus Mimosa Body WashI actually have been using this product for a couple of years now. My mom used to buy this for my sister and I when I was in high school! My mom actually sent me this bottle, but I decided to include it because I love it so much! It smells so pleasant and calming. I also have pretty sensitive skin, and some body washes can be very harsh and even make me break out. This body wash is extremely gentle but is still able to make me feel clean. This is definitely my all-time favorite body wash!

Smooth & Control Hair Oil: This is another one of the standout products for me! At first, I did not like it at all. I applied two pumps to the ends of my damp hair after I got out of the shower, and when I woke up, my hair felt so greasy. I ended up giving it another chance and fell in love! This product goes such a long way! I have super thick hair, and I only use about half a pump and rub it in to the ends of my hair after I shower. I also will apply this before using hot tools on my hair to make sure it’s still soft and silky after the heat. It makes me hair so shiny and feel so healthy!

Sugar Body Scrub in Lemongrass: To be honest, I really don’t like this product. I used it a couple times and realized that I got breakouts on my legs after using it! Like I said, I do have sensitive skin, so there’s a chance it may not break you out, but even still, I had to scrub off the oil and residue it left on my legs after using it.

Body Butter in Citrus Mimosa: I love using this product after I get out of the shower! It has to same amazing scent as my body wash. I also can have problems sometimes with body lotion breaking me out, and this so so gentle. It leaves my skin feeling good and soft for days. Sometimes if I’m going out and will be wearing something that shows my legs, I will add a little bit of liquid highlighter and mix it in with the body butter to make my legs look smooth and shiny!

Now, on to makeup…

Tint Skin: This has completely replaced my MAKE UP FOREVER Ultra HD Foundation. I’m absolutely amazed that such a light weight product could have such great coverage and be so build-able. I also have found that it wears extremely well. I seriously couldn’t say enough good things about this product! Definitely a must-have.

Touchup Skin Concealer Pen: I liked this concealer as more of a highlighter rather than an actual concealer. YSL sells a very similar one that is much more expensive, so if you are in the market for a cheaper alternative, I think this is a great option (and it’s much better for your skin)! I’m not a huge fan of the texture because it’s a little thick, but I still think it provides good coverage.

Powder Blush Duo (Tawny & Whispy): This is a very natural looking blush/bronze duo. I’ve only tried it a couple times and it provides a very natural color and finish. I personally don’t reach for this when I’m doing my makeup, but I still think it is a great product!

Volumizing Mascara: I absolutely love this mascara! It is so natural while but is still able to plump up your lashes. It is also extremely easy to get off which is super important to me. It is a total pain to have to scrub mascara off of your face, but I don’t have to with this mascara!

Color Define Brow Pencil: This is SUCH a great brow pencil! I used to never fill out my eyebrows, but now it is an essential part of my makeup routine. It makes a total difference. This brow pencil is so natural, and I love the fact that it has a spoolie on the end of it. This is also a must-try!

Eyeshadow Duo: The texture of these shadows are great! I didn’t find them to be very pigmented, but that is just because the colors are super light. I don’t reach for these colors very often, but that isn’t to say they aren’t worth a try!

If you are interested in purchasing any of these products, you can do so here.

I also decided to put together a little video to show you all how I use the Beautycounter makeup products that have actually made their way into my beauty routine. I know a lot of you were also asking me a month or two ago to do a makeup tutorial, and not much has changed in my makeup routine (except for these products)! So, here it is. I was going out that night, so I was truly showing you how I normally get ready! Enjoy!
