Change of Seasons: Lookbook and Advice

Hey everyone! I hope you guys had a fabulous weekend. I am so excited to write this post because (as you can probably tell from the pictures) I got to shoot with my friends!! They are all so stylish, and I wanted to give you guys some inspiration for fall clothing — especially if you live somewhere where it doesn’t get particularly cold. In Dallas, although I have had days where I’ve gotten to pull out my big sweaters and boots, it’s rare. It can be a little tricky to pick out what to wear when it’s 60 degrees out in November, so I thought I’d share with you how my friends and I like to dress in this weather. In this lookbook, you’ll find pieces that don’t exactly scream fall; however, as long as you are in season-appropriate colors, it’s a go! Burgundy, gray, burnt orange, tan, black, olive green, plaid… I love it all.

I also wanted to make this a little bit more than just a lookbook. At this point in the school year, people are starting to mentally prepare themselves for upcoming exams and final projects which means the social calendar is clearing up. I personally haven’t spent more than 24 hours at home since I’ve been to college, and now that there isn’t much going on to distract me, I’ve gotten a little homesick. Talking to my older friends about this, I’ve realized that a lot of freshman feel this way this time of year. Being homesick is normal.  So, I asked my friends for their favorite pieces of advice since coming to college, and after reading all of them, I really believe they should be things everyone should take into account — not just freshman. So, obviously, I’m going to share this advice with you in hopes of it making its way to someone who really needs to hear it.

“Be nice to yourself.”

As annoying as it is to hear…

“There truly are some things that only time can heal.”

“You have too many people who love you to be sad.”

“Don’t change for anyone.”

“Focus on meeting girls you like more than guys you like.”

“Call your parents because they miss you a lot.”

This is my favorite quote of all time, and I think it can apply to pretty much every situation that life throws at you (definitely not just a person) — whether it’s a time you miss, something you miss…

“So miss him. Send him some love and light every time you think about him, then drop it.”

— Elizabeth Gilbert; Eat, Pray, Love

I hope you all have a great rest of your week! Thank you to all my friends who so generously helped me with this post! I love y’all so much, and I’m so grateful that we all made our way to each other <3
