Travel Guide to Skincare, Makeup, and Hair

Hey y’all!  Today, I’m going to be showing you how the best way to simplify your beauty routine when you’re traveling.  I know how hard it is to decide on one nude MAC lipstick to take on a trip or how excruciating it can be to decide between packing the Naked 2 or 3 palette.  To those of you fellow makeup lovers, you. are. not. alone.  My parents are divorced, so I have to pack allllll the time.  I have also been traveling a lot this summer.  While I still consistently overpack my clothes, I feel as though I’ve gotten pretty good at packing in terms of beauty items, so I decided I would share with you all my travel beauty routine!

Let’s start off with my makeup bag…

  • Mini Too Faced Hangover X Primer
  • Bobbi Brown Foundation stick (Not only is this stuff compact, but it is buildable which really is key for traveling.  This also means that you can use it as a spot treatment, so you don’t have to bring one.)
  • Mini NARS Creamy Concealer
  • Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot (I love setting my face with loose, translucent powder, but it is so impractical when you are traveling!  So, I always opt for a pressed powder.)
  • NARS Blush & Bronze Duo in Orgasm/Laguna
  • Stila Compact Eyeshadow in Kitten (I’m so mad at myself because I forgot to photograph this, and it was my best trick!  This eyeshadow is also an amazing highlighter, and it’s tiny which makes it perfect for traveling.)
  • Tarte Tartelette Tease Palette (This tiny palette has the perfect blend of matte and shimmery shadows you need for a trip.)
  • Mini Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero
  • Mini Tarte Lights Camera Lashes (SAVE YOUR MASCARA SAMPLES!  These are the best for packing!  This one also happens to be my favorite mascara.)
  • Anastasia Brow Definer
  • MAC Lipstick in Hug Me
  • Mini Kat Von D Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist

And now, on to skincare…

  • Sephora Collection Far & Away Silcone Travel Tube (Your skin can go crazy when you’re in a new environment — especially if you’re flying.  Be safe and take your usual face cleanser.  I like this travel container because it is silicone and gives a little, so it won’t explode on the plane.)
  • Cortizone 10 Ointment (This may seem weird, but every time I have any texture on my face, I put it on under my moisturizer.  When I wake up, it’s gone!  I always pack this with me because who knows what your skin will do in a new environment!)
  • doTERRA Melaluca Oil
  • Generic Travel Size Moisturizer

Now, hair!  A couple of my followers on Instagram requested for me to do a tutorial on how to achieve big, voluminous curls with a straightening iron.  I really do think that this is the trick to an ultra-simplified travel beauty routine.  Curling irons are so heavy, and you can do so many styles with just a straightener!  Why bring both?!  I personally really like curling my hair like this even when I’m not traveling.  So, here you have it:

Anyone else make super weird faces in the mirror at yourself when you’re getting ready?  Hope you all enjoyed!
